Wynn Las Vegas

Las Vegas is renowned for its non-stop entertainment, from the famous casinos, to music concerts by world-class singers, to nightclubs, to some of the most creative and awe-inspiring shows in the world, including a variety by Cirque du Soleil and Le Rêve − a breathtaking aquatic themed display − at your hotel, Wynn Las Vegas. Located at the southern end of ‘The Strip’, the hotel is a relative oasis of calm. For ‘foodies’ there are plenty of restaurants including many by celebrity Chefs, while shoppers will delight at the sheer choice. If you can be lured away from Vegas, there’s plenty to see and do beyond the bright lights, from playing a round or two of golf to a fantastic helicopter tour that whizzes you over the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead, then touches down in a scenic spot in the Grand Canyon for refreshments. If you are tempted by the latter, do ensure that you have your camera at the ready.

The ultimate in luxury lounging, guest rooms and suites have been designed with guests’ comfort in mind and boast floor-to-ceiling windows, Egyptian cotton linens and flat-screen HD televisions. A stay at Wynn Las Vegas would not be complete without seeing the jaw-dropping show, Le Rêve - The Dream, playing an awe-inspiring round of golf on the beautiful 18-hole, par 70 course or spending the afternoon being pampered in the spa. There are so many ways to enjoy a stay at this luxury hotel.

Amangiri

2 nights

+

Amangiri is located in Canyon Point and it’s the ultimate contrast to Las Vegas. You’ll find that the stillness and silence is noticeable. It’s a great place to really get away from the stresses and strains of everyday life with activities including hiking along trails in the Colorado Plateau and guided walks to discover caves where there are original Indian petroglyphs. You can also learn basic rock-climbing and for those looking for something a little slower paced there are morning yoga and afternoon Pilates classes. In the warmer months there is even more to do including a host of water-based activities at Lake Powell nearby.

The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain

2 nights

+

The serene Arizona desert forms the backdrop for the next part of your itinerary. From your hotel, The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain, there is access to adventure activities including mountain-biking, geocaching (where you follow clues around the canyon to find hidden treasure) and guided hikes to find the petroglyphs of the Hohokam Indians and learn about the native flora and fauna. Sunset here is a magical time and the hotel’s Native-American flautist offers soothing and haunting music that is certain to add to the ambience.

Venture into the lush desert surrounding The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain and relax amongst the majestic Saguaro cacti (that only grow in this region and loom, somewhat comically, like characters from a cartoon strip) and the bordering Tortolita Mountains. Even with around three-hundred and fifty days of glorious sunshine a year, the terrain remains surprisingly verdant and one of the greenest desert landscapes in the world. Guest rooms feature Mesquite woods and rich, bold fabrics in earthy tones. Each one has a king-size or double-queen bed, while the spacious guest suites offer two balconies and panoramic views. Casitas, meanwhile, are small Spanish-style houses hidden away in Wild Burro Canyon. And, because The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain is such a peaceful and isolated resort, star-gazing is a 'must-do' activity while here, with the Little Dipper making an almost daily appearance in the night sky.

Scottsdale is renowned for its golf courses and at your hotel, The Phoenician, you’ll have access to a championship golf course, plus many more leisure facilities including world-class tennis, a centre for wellbeing, a great kids’ club and a cactus garden which is home to roadrunners (birds) and chuckwallas (lizards). It’s about a ten-minute drive from the centre of Scottsdale, a place where old west meets the new, where a handful of classic saloons feature live country music and where there is a strong Mexican influence and Native American culture. If you wish to shop, head to Fashion Square Mall − the third largest mall in the US − or Downtown where there are boutiques showcasing local designers who make products including crafts and jewellery. There are over one-hundred art galleries in Scottsdale and plenty of interesting sculptures around the main streets too. The temperature most of the year is suited to enjoying outdoor activities such as hiking and cycling through the mountains, segway tours, Jeep safaris and hot-air balloon rides, so adventure-lovers are very well catered for.

Best time to travel

Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November) are generally the best time for this itinerary. Las Vegas and Arizona are dry most of the year, though thunderstorms are not uncommon during the summer which is very hot, while winters are cool. In Utah, again summers are very hot, while winters can be harsh.
