In an age when speed is everything, a land voyage on board South East Asia's most glamorous train is the perfect opportunity to slow down, switch off and simply enjoy the journey. The beautifully appointed cabins feature cherrywood and elm burr-panelled walls, adorned with decorative marquetry and intricate inlays, whilst large picture windows maximise the wonderful views of the passing scenery and a 24-hour steward service ensures your every need is catered for. Located at the end of the train, the Observation Car - with its teakwood flooring, panelled walls, rattan furniture and potted plants - is the perfect place to enjoy cocktails amidst a Colonial ‘veranda’ ambience. One-third of the car is outdoors, making it perfect for photographic opportunities. Treat yourself to any journey and you'll find yourself intrigued and inspired, on the adventure of a lifetime.

Luxury Itinerary Ideas

Classic Journey
Taking four days and three nights (Southbound from Bangkok to Singapore) or three days and two nights (Northbound from Singapore to Bangkok), Classic Journeys are a great way to experience Asia, either as part of a main itinerary - taking you from one country to another, or perhaps as an added extra - to celebrate a special occasion, for example - that happens during your holiday. The journey includes boarding a local raft at River Kwai Bridge Station for a cruise along the picturesque Kwai Yai River, passing under the famous Kwai Bridge and crossing the Straits of Johor into Singapore, as well as Kangsar, the picturesque royal town of Perak, which boasts stunning old palaces, a gold-domed mosque and the ornate Royal Museum of Perak, completed in 1931 and built without the use of a single nail.

The Ancient Lanna Kingdom
This two-night itinerary can be added to a Classic Journey if you wish and it departs from Bangkok for the northern Thai cities of Lampang and Chiang Mai which are steeped in history and culture, before returning to Bangkok.

Chronicles of South East Asia - Fables of the Peninsula
Lasting a total of six nights and seven days, this journey presents you with a spectacular perspective of Asia's romantic and Colonial Heritage, along with the varied architecture of Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Kangsar and Georgetown, on the island of Penang. Highlights include an overnight stay at Cameron Highlands Resort, with a guided walk through the fragrant tea gardens and a private tour of the Monkey Training College in Surat Thani, where the skillful 'students' help to harvest coconuts. At River Kwai Bridge, disembark for a leisurely cruise along the gorge before visiting the Thailand-Burma Railway Museum and Don Rak War Cemetery.

Chronicles of South East Asia - Epic Thailand
This six-night, seven-day journey provides you with a glimpse of Thailand's mystical qualities and includes a trip to one of the country's most celebrated vineyards, Gran Monte, which bottles its own wine under the direction of Thailand's first female Oenologist. Other highlights include participating in a Bali Sil (sacred thread) ceremony; visiting a traditional Isan village, where you can watch women weaving bamboo mats and learn about rice cultivation; taking a walk through the verdant rice paddies and exploring Prasat Sikhoraphum, a beautifully restored 12th century Khmer temple in Phanom Rung.

Chronicles of South East Asia - Epic Thailand
This three-night, four-day journey offers you the chance to see a lot more of Asia's most enigmatic countries - Laos. Disembark at Hin Dat for a tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Phimai, one of the most important Khmer ruins in Thailand, before heading to the vineyards of picturesque Khao Yai to participate in some wine tasting. Day two's crossing of the Mekong River, via the Friendship Bridge linking Thailand to Laos, includes a full day's excursion of the capital city Vientiane, where gilded Buddhist temples sit alongside French Colonial architecture.
