Description

Hotel DeBrett’s interior is a design timeline for a century’s worth of artistic diversity; from Art Deco bars, to 1950s features and lofty studio-style spaces, this boutique hotel oozes an air of effortless cool. Small but stylish and radiating an incredible amount of retro charisma, the hotel is incredibly edgy, with just twenty-five unique guest rooms and suites decorated with signature Michelle Deery-designed carpets and bright, yet sophisticated colour schemes. The restaurant, ‘Kitchen’, serves fresh local cuisine and there are two bars and a glass-roofed atrium, where breakfast is served beneath high ceilings and contemporary chandeliers. As with many urban hotel spaces, Hotel DeBrett is sleek, sharp and bang on-trend, with guests leaving feeling inspired by its unique urban vibe. Fittingly located in Auckland's Fashion District, numerous shops, restaurants, bars, art galleries, theatres and museums are just a short walk away.

City Life

Auckland is the most populous metropolis in New Zealand, with more yachts per capita than any other city - hence its ‘City of Sails’ nickname. Auckland has a strong Maori heritage, which is still evident across the city, as are the scars from over fifty erupted volcanoes that dominate the terrain. Once in Auckland, ascent The Sky Tower for various viewing platforms and a revolving restaurant, or keep your feet firmly on the ground and head towards The Auckland Domain. This park area is best visited in the summer when free concerts are held. In the same park, you’ll find the Auckland War Memorial Museum, which details Maori culture, history and past wars. For something more easy-going, take a trip to Mission Bay and Auckland’s finest sandy shoreline, or stay in the inner city and venture to Queen Street for lots of retail therapy.

In Addition

The waterfront harbour is just a few minutes' walk away and a lovely place to sit and admire the luxury boats, especially in the late-afternoon when the atmosphere is peaceful. A little further afield, you’ll find Auckland’s fabulous at galleries, theatres and museums, as well as the usual collections of restaurants, cafes, bars and shops.
