Days 1 and 2

Having checked-in to their hotel, guests will have two full days at leisure, to acclimatise, relax and explore the resorts’ impressive facilities. Located on the south-west coast, overlooking a golden-sand crescent and with the dramatic peak of Haleakalā as a back-drop, the 380 room hotel is set within lush tropical gardens and is adjacent to the Wailea Golf Club. Day 3: Ocean Adventure

Rising early and starting the day with delicious cold pressed juices and energetic yoga, guests will then join an early morning surf lesson. This half-day adventure will take place at a secluded beach and Mark Healey will provide enlightening instruction on the mechanics of surfing, safety protocols and basic language of the ocean (reading its waves and understanding conditions).With more expert surfing guidance after breakfast, guests will have plenty of time to bond with their board and practice newly-learned skills. Alternatively, for those more experienced surfers, Mark and his team of professionals, will take clients out to scout breaks along the North Shore and outer reefs, via helicopter, or boat charter. Along with seeking more challenging locations, Mark will teach key skills for saving energy and strength, increasing wave counts and possibly introducing jet-ski assists for the daring client.Following a private picnic lunch and an afternoon at leisure, guests will be able to catch their breath, and perhaps indulge in a little spa therapy, before accepting an invite to join a wonderful sunset cruise, with Champagne and canapés.

Day 4: Enjoy a helicopter tour

Guests will wake early to practice a little yoga, before heading out to catch the morning surf. Having enjoyed the thrills and swells of the ocean, clients will be ready to head to the shore to enjoy the hotel’s wide-ranging breakfast menu. Once re-fuelled, guests will be taken on a scenic helicopter flight, east, to the rugged and scenic Hana Coast.

For clients who are already advanced surfers, Mark and his team will also offer the chance to join an incredible heli-surf trip to a local spot, special to them. Dependent on conditions and advanced experience, lucky clients may have the thrilling opportunity to try tow-in surfing or jet-ski assists, whilst visiting an outer reef big wave spot. With lunch on-the-go at a secluded, scenic point, the specialist team will share their experiences and insights whilst ‘in the field’. The afternoon will be spent back at the hotel resort, with more surfing on the menu, before enjoying a well-deserved restful evening!

Day 5: Masterclass with Mark Healey

Following a session of energising yoga, to the rising sun, guests will take part in a remarkable Ocean Survival & Big Wave master-class by Mark Healey. Taking approximately two hours, the session will cover a variety of ocean scenarios, incorporating Mark’s personal anecdotes and sharing his incredible expert knowledge. With decades of experience across the globe, this valuable insight into Mark's vast experience is not to be missed! Having been immersed in a multitude of ocean facts, guests will welcome a pause for breakfast, before heading out for another exhilarating surf lesson. Lunch will be spent on board a boat, making the most of your time in the water, with the late afternoon offering the chance of a surf excursion with long boards. Sharing a long board with a partner or HWO expert, this is a thrilling opportunity to have fun, whilst learning from the best of the best! The evening is free to relax and digest the fabulous experiences of the day.

Day 6: SUP Surf and board pursuits

With an early start of yoga and cold-pressed juice, guests can then choose to take part in such Hawaiian ‘off-shoot’ sports as stand-up paddle surfing, known as SUP Surf, a paddle-boarding lesson, or a special session with expert local waterman, Dave Kalama, a major pioneer within the surfer, kite boarder, tow-surfer, stand-up-paddler (both distance and surf), and outrigger canoe worlds, who is available to share his water wisdom. Hailing form a long line of surfing legends and Royal Hawaiian lineage, Dave has made incredible waves as a world-champion windsurfer, and has evolved into a surf icon, pioneering the sport of big-wave tow-in surfing. Competing annually in races and channel crossings, Dave is renowned for his athletic prowess, year-round training ethic, passion for Hawaii and ocean health and can share a wealth of experience. Having been inspired by Dave, and taken the chance to try open ocean yoga, the afternoon is free to explore kite boarding, windsurfing or advanced heli-surfing, before sampling the open-air delights of Ferraro’s Bar e Restorante during the evening.

Day 7: Ocean conditions and surfing

Following an early morning session of yoga, guests are inspired with another master-class. Today, Mark Healey shares an expert lesson on how to read the ocean and how to better understand the conditions. Armed with a wealth of new wisdom, guests can enjoy breakfast before taking to the water and working on their paddle power. Whichever board sport you choose, the session in the water can be rounded off with another surf lesson. Lunch, followed by a leisurely afternoon, enables guests to rest their tired limbs and dine on delicious fusion cuisine within the hotel’s Spago restaurant.

Day 8: Sunrise at Haleakala Crater

Having awoken before dawn to yoga and juice, this morning sees guests visit the mighty Haleakalā Crater at sunrise. Whether guests choose to hike, drive, or fly to witness this magical spectacle, in the warming light, there is plenty of time to take it all in and return for a day of rest afterwards. Later that evening, guests can join Mark Healey for a sunset surf experience. Travel by private car or boat charter, to an un-crowded surf break to catch waves to the magical Hawaiian sunset.

Day 9: Hawaiian Outrigger Canoeing

Today is spent indulging in yoga, tasting new juices and learning the native sport of Hawaiian Outrigger Canoeing with native hero, Dave Kalama. Learning from a local master and hearing about the cultural significance, guests will no doubt feel a great deal of respect for its ocean heritage. The specialist canoe techniques will enable clients to feel a little closer to the spirit of the Hawaiian people and their daring ocean-faring past.The afternoon can be spent snorkelling , exploring the splendid underwater reefs, rugged coastlines and perhaps admiring a happy pod of dolphins! With an evening at leisure, clients can absorb the serene beauty of the island destination.

Lanai

Day 10: Transfer to Lanai

Depart from the island of Maui to the smaller, neighbouring island of Lanai, via boat. Today guests leave the beauty of Maui to stay on the smaller, neighbouring island of Lanai. Joining a boat charter, guests can surf en route and appreciate the stunning surroundings. Having enjoyed breakfast on board, guests are free to spend the afternoon surfing or kayaking in the waters around Four Seasons Lanai. The late afternoon and evening is free to explore the new resort and sample the Lobby Bar and superb cuisine at either NOBU Lanai, Kailani, or One FORTY restaurants.

A suitably dramatic finale for an incredible ocean adventure!

With little able to top their final day’s experiences, guests are able to enjoy a relaxing and peaceful end to their holiday. Their final three days can be spent enjoying the luxurious hotel facilities, par-taking in a little golf, horse-riding, hiking in-land, snorkelling, dining al fresco, on fish tacos or Polynesian ceviche or pupus, enjoying a spot of tennis or simply soaking up the tropical sun.
