Description

Many hotels claim to be unique, but the vast majority of them are not quite as distinct as the five-star boutique UXUA Casa Hotel, conceived by the Dutch former Creative Director of Diesel, Wilbert Das. Sitting amidst the Quadrado (historic town square) - the focal point of the bijou fishing village of Trancoso - just ten freestanding casas boast a treasure trove of quizzical features, such as sinks and baths sculpted from the trunks of fallen trees, showers flowing through thick wooden beams and old chests housing LCD televisions. Perfecting rustic simplicity, UXUA Casa Hotel uses all-natural materials, Brazilian art and antiques that mimic the laid-back aesthetics of Trancoso, with a dash of contemporary comfort to instill a barefoot chic vibe to proceedings. There’s also a spa using organic products, two Bahian restaurants and a spectacular free-form, lagoon-style swimming pool emblazoned with 40,000 green quartz fragments - said to have healing properties - and surrounded by lush garden foliage. This hotel is one-of-a-kind and try as they may, competitors fail to outdo it. In short, UXUA Casa Hotel's distinct, quirky style remains en par with its exemplary reputation and friendly service – totally unmatched and effortlessly laid-back and cool.

For an extra special treat, choose the eco-conscious one-bedroom treehouse (Casa da Arvore) with an outdoor tub, al fresco living area, a spa bath on the outdoor deck and a hanging swing, perfect for a sundowner with your significant other.

Leisure:+
Beach Facilities

UXUA Beach provides the perfect, convenient location for undisturbed beach lazing just a seven-minute walk away from the hotel. Snack on fresh coconut, grilled lunches and cashew nuts through the day while dozing on the hotel's massive day-beds, or enjoy an ice-cold beer from UXUA Praia Bar, made from reclaimed fisherman's boats. Alternatively, travel for an hour towards the beautiful Espelho Beach, which offers pure Robinson Crusoe escapism amidst exotic palms and a handful of laid-back restaurants. If you can't bear to leave such an idyllic location, however, activities available on UXUA Beach include volleyball, sea-kayaking and capoeira (the Brazilian martial art).

Health & Fitness

The green Adventurine Quartz used in the swimming pool is believed to have therapeutic healing properties - a great excuse to spend as much time in the pool as possible! In addition, the spa offers indoor and outdoor treatment rooms, a Jacuzzi and yoga studio. Treatments include massage, acupuncture and simple beauty rituals using 100% organic soaps and oils. Why not try a spot of Capoeira (African-Brazilian martial arts dancing)? Alternatively, the spa offers this and many other popular Trancosco dances. It’s a great way to keep fit, but if you prefer to exercise by yourself, stick to the simple fitness facilities in the UXUA Casa Hotel's gym.

In Addition

The most unique thing about UXUA Casa Hotel is that it doesn’t feel like a hotel at all, rather a small residential hamlet with a real sense of community – an experience in itself. While here, you’ll be compelled to explore; wander the dust tracks, meander through the historic hilltop square and pass through the village's houses, tiny restaurants and small churches. Saunter through the nearby mangrove forest and down to the beach, where you can enjoy scuba-diving, windsurfing, volleyball and snorkelling.
