For those in search of the quintessential luxury wilderness lodge, there really is only one place to stay - Wickaninnish Inn, set on Vancouver Island's rocky ocean coastline on Canada’s west coast. Weathered by a constant beating off the Pacific Ocean and backdropped by lush rainforest and a sweeping beach, the greatest allure of this splendid retreat is its temperament - the threat of a brewing storm, complemented by an atmospheric and turbulent coastline. In fact, the inn is a popular base for guests who wish to enjoy winter storm-watching in November - at other times of the year, however, the weather is very pleasant and benign, with warm and dry summers giving way to rainier weather into the autumn. A wonderful feature of the inn is the expansive Pacific Ocean or Chesterman Beach views from every guest room and suite, as well as from the spa, restaurant and cafe, with binoculars provided to observe Grey Whales on the Pacific Ocean's choppy horizon during their migration in March. Most guests embark on various treks and walks while here, including complimentary nature hikes, while others prefer to admire the views from the full-service, award-winning Ancient Cedars Spa or while dining at The Pointe Restaurant over a platter of freshly caught seafood. You can be assured of excellent service at this Relais & Chateaux property, with the Les Clefs d'Or Concierge team ready to assist with the little details that will guarantee a memorable, relaxing stay.

Health & Fitness

Guests can enjoy various beauty treatments, including manicures and pedicures, as well as nutrient-infused spa remedies using natural ingredients, such as hand-harvested seaweed collected from Vancouver Island. In Addition

While staying at Wickaninnish Inn, there are plenty of treks and walks to embark on, including complimentary Saturday and Wednesday morning nature hikes led by a local naturalist.

Considered to be the original winter storm-watching venue, guests who stay here often hope for wild and brooding atmospheres, brought on by a menacing Pacific Ocean storm - simply marvellous to experience from the picture windows in your guest room or suite. Afterwards, venture to Chesterman Beach, which will have been severely assaulted by the event, to see giant squid and driftwood litter the sand, spat out by the storm (the lodge even provides ponchos and wellies for the adventure).
